Sweet Shot Tuesday 5/11

The "Bean" in Chicago

We're in Chicago for a few days this week.  This photo was taken under the center arch of the "Bean" as it's been nicknamed, otherwise officially known as The Cloud Gate Sculpture, in Millennium Park. It's a really cool reflective steel sculpture that is meant to resemble a drop of mercury.  The shiny mirror-like surface reflects visitors and the city skyline from all different angles.

Here it is from further back.

Unfortunately, the weather hasn't been great. But we were able to enjoy several hours outside yesterday before the rain came in last night. Most of my photos didn't turned out as well as I'd liked due to the cloudy weather, still getting used to my new camera, and being away from home and unable to do any editing.  But I've had a great time with so many photo opps!

One more fun photo; my youngest son fearlessly standing on the clear glass "Ledge" that sticks out over the city from the observation deck of the Sears Tower (now the Willis tower, but everybody still calls it the Sears Tower!)

Totally agree with Heather. The first shot is almost an optical illusion.....hard to figure out. The last photo -- not me!!!!

Wow Chris, Aaron is fearless! Did the other boys stand on the ledge too? And what I really want to know is, did *you* stand on the ledge? It does make me slightly nauseous just looking at the picture! Pam

Cool pictures! In that last shot, your son almost looks like he's floating above the city! I'll bet there are a ton of great photo ops in Chicago...

Dropping by from 3Boybarians. I have a Canon Xti also, and love it. I'm doing a 365 project that has really made a difference in my photo taking skills. I can hardly look at your boy in the last shot. Brave soul!

Great pictures, Chris. And, like everyone else, I really do like the one of Aaron standing "in the air."

And, everyone - yes, Chris did finally get out on the ledge herself, but it took her a few minutes. Scary stuff.

Love, Mom
